Our College Library

A library is a room or a building having/containing a large number of books on differrent branches of different poets, writers. A college library is a library belonging  to a college. A college library is an important part of education. A college can not run well without a library. So every college has a library. 

Ours is a big and old college in the Upazila. There is a rich library in our college. It is on the ground floor of our college building. It is south facing. So it is well airy and well lighted. It is nicely decorated. 

There are 5 thousand books on history, religion, culture,  sports and games, computer, science, agriculture and English grammar in our collge library. The books are well arranged in selves and almirahs. 

The librarian of the libarary is a very experienced and expert. He is very friendly, helpful, co-operative, dutiful and honest. He always helps us. There is a big reading room in the library. We can read books in the reading room during off periods. We can borrow books by showing library cards. No outsider is allowed here. 

It remains open from 1 am to 5 pm. We are proud of our college library. We always keep it neat and clean. In fine, it can said that a college library plays a vital role in making a good result.

The curse of Drug Addiction

Drug addiction means strong attraction for taking harmful drugs such as wine, opium, morphine and heroine etc. It is the most injurious habit of a man's life. It is a curse to human civilization. Today it has becaome the global problem too. 

It is an alarming news that many students in our society have already addicted to drug addiction. Bad association is one of the prime caauses of it. Unemplyment problem, restless politics and lack of family ties are liable for this dangerous habit. 

Some people take drugs to forget their past painful and sorrowful memories, some for amusement and sme as fashion. In order to collect money, the addicts commit various social crimes such as hijacking, ssmuggling, snatching,looting, killing etc. 

An addict always feels drowsy (sleepy) and suffers from severe headache. He totally loses his dignity in the society. He also loses the love and affection of his near and dear. He suffers from physical weakness, high blood presssure and many other fatal diseases. His kidneys and livers also get damaged seriously. 

This dangerous habit leads an addict to death. It is high time we started a strong campaign against drug addiction to save our young society. Ittiteracy and ignorance must be driven away from the society. Social awareness must be raised.  If we fail to stamp out this terrific habit, our all development plans will be fruitless.

The Importance of Learning English

Today the importance of learning English can not be described in words. Now English is the most important language in the world. It dominates over all the languages of the globe. There is hardly any country in the world where English is not used, spoken and taught. About 350 million people speak English as a first language and another 300 people use it as their second language.

It is official or semi-official language in more than 60 countries in the world. English is the official language in many international organizations and offices. All books on science, technology, BBA and medical science are written in English.

About 80% of all the information of the computer is in English. E-mail, Fax and internet also run through English. The business world is also conducted by this language. So English is the most effective means of communication  among the different nations in the world. It assists to strengthen and quicken international relations and co-operation.

We should learn English well to enrich and promote our mother language. All these reasons, English is now called global language. So by learning and using English well, we can alter the wheels of lot. Therefore we must learn and use English to face the battle of real life successfully.

My Visit to the Shat Gombuj Mosque

Visiting an historical place or an old relic like the Shat Gombuj Mosque is an important part of education. It helps us to improve our knowledge, widen our outlook, give us joy and helps to remove the monotony of our routine works. During the last summer vacation I got a chance to visit the Shat Gombuj Mosque. I went there with my elder brother. We went there by bus. The world famous mosque is located on the eastern side of the tank named "Ghoradighi" at Bagerhat in Khulna.

The mosque was built/founded by a great muslim saint named Khan Jahan Ali in the middle of 15th century. It has 77 domes including 7 4 sided domes. That is why it is called Shat Gombuj Mosque. 

It has a vast prayer hall. The prayer hall was also used as the court of Khan Jahan Ali. The design and the beauty of Shat Gombuj Mosque is matchless. The Mazar of Khan Jahan Ali lies near the mosque.

There are a lot of large crocodiles in the tank. We met hundreds of boys and girls who came to visit mosque from different schools and colleges. I gained a new experience and new knowledge about a new place in our country. So in order to broaden and increase knowledge, any student should visit the historical mosque on holidays.

A Book Fair

A book fair is a joyful fair where books are displayed and sold to the common people. Today a book fair has become very popular in our country. It is held in some special occasions is towns and cities every year. The Bangla Academy organizes a month long book fair on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day on it's compound. Besides, the famuous book publishers also organize book fair sometimes.

A book fair usually last for a week or even a month. Hundreds of book publishers take part in the Ekushe book fair. The stalls sits in rows. They are decoratd nicely. Books on various branches both in Bangla and English are displayed and sold here.

The book lover and reader gather in a book fair. It is a large gathering of teachers, students and educated people, sometimes scholars, writers and poets also visit a book fair. Seminar on books is also held here.

A book fair is an important part of education. It helps to broaden our kingdom of knowledge. Books are sold at a cheap rate in a book fair. A book  fair forms the habit of reading, buying, writing and taking care of books. Every students and every educated person should visit the book fair every year.  I am also fond of visiting a book fair.
